外教读睡前故事 | Little Red Riding Hood 小红帽

《Little Red Riding Hood》应该是大家最耳熟能详的童话故事了，数百年来，它陪伴着无数孩子进入梦乡。它长盛不衰的魅力是什么呢？一起到故事里看看吧。

天真又贪玩的小红帽不听妈妈的话，去看望外婆的路上，不仅离开了大路，还又轻信了大灰狼，把自己的事和盘托出，差点酿成大祸。小朋友们，开动脑筋想一想，小红帽哪些行为是我们不应该学习的呢？

Once upon a time there lived on the borders of a great forest a woodman and his wife who had one little daughter, a sweet child, whom every one loved.

很久以前，一位樵夫和她的妻子住在一片大森林旁边。他们有一个小女儿，是个人见人爱的孩子。

She was a joy of her father and mother’s hearts.

这个女孩是父母的掌上明珠。

To please her, her mother made her a little scarlet cloak and hood.

为了让她高兴，妈妈为她做了一件鲜红色的带兜帽的小斗篷。

The child looked so beautiful in it that everybody called her Little Red Riding-Hood.

穿上它后，小女孩看起来漂亮极了，于是大家都叫她小红帽。

One day her mother sent her to visit her grandmother—a spirited elderly woman who lived in the heart of the wood—to take her some fresh butter and new-laid eggs and a nice cake.

一天，妈妈让小红帽去看望外婆——一个住在森林中间、生气勃勃的老妇人——给她送一些新鲜的黄油和刚刚生出的鸡蛋和美味的蛋糕。

Little Red Riding-Hood was very pleased to be sent on this errand, for she liked to do kind things, and always enjoyed visits with her grandmother.

小红帽很高兴被派去做这件事，因为她喜欢做体贴的事情，而且一直很爱去拜访她的外婆。

Little Red Riding Hood’s mother wisely instructed her to be sure to stay on the path, for the forest can be dangerous for those who stray.

小红帽的妈妈明智地建议她，一定要走大路，因为一旦在森林中迷路，是非常危险的。

The sun was shining brightly as Little Red Riding-Hood set off on her journey, but it was pleasantly cool under the shade of the old trees.

当小红帽刚出发时，阳光非常刺眼，但是走在大树的树荫下很凉快。

She sang with glee as she walked. She soon spied colorful butterflies flying playfully in the sun, and forgetting her mother’s instructions, skipped along behind them off  the path into the forest.

她一边走一边哼着歌。她很快被阳光下翩翩起舞的彩色蝴蝶吸引住了，忘记了妈妈的叮嘱，跟着蝴蝶一蹦一跳地上了小路，走进了森林。

As she followed the butterflies, Little Red Riding Hood came across a bed of wild flowers, and stopped to gather a bunch to take to her grandmother, who loved flowers.

当她追着蝴蝶时，小红帽偶然发现一大丛野花，于是她停下来采了一大丛，拿给喜欢花的外婆。

Little did she know that a wolf had seen her leave the path, and was now watching and following her, and making evil plans.

小红帽一点也不知道，大灰狼看到她离开了大路，此时正暗中观察她，并悄悄谋划了一个邪恶的计划。

The wolf was hungry and would have liked to eat Little Red Riding Hood right then and there. But he was also crafty, and knew that woodsmen and hunters might hear her screams.

大灰狼非常饿，他本可以立即吃掉小红帽，但他很狡猾，知道樵夫和猎人可能会听到她的尖叫。

He came up to her very gently and said, “Good day, Little Red Riding-Hood, where are you going?”

他走到小红帽面前，非常温柔地问，“你好，小红帽，你要去哪里啊？”

“To see my grandmother,” said the child, “and take her a present from mother of eggs and butter and cake.”

“去看望我的外婆，”小红帽回答，“还要给她带妈妈准备的鸡蛋、黄油和蛋糕。”

“Where does your grandmamma live?” asked the wolf.

“你的外婆住在什么地方呢？”大灰狼问。

“Quite in the middle of the wood,” she replied.

“就在这片林子的正中间，”她回答。

The wolf knew the house, and his plan took shape. “Good day, Red Riding-Hood.” he said, and the wolf ran off as fast as he could.

大灰狼知道那所房子在哪，他很快想出了一个计划。“再见，小红帽。”他说完就飞奔而去了。

The wolf ran quickly off to the grandmother’s cottage, intending to eat the grandmother then do the same to Little Red Riding Hood when she arrived.

大灰狼飞快地跑到外婆的小屋，想先把外婆吃掉，等小红帽来了再把她也吃掉。

To his disappointment, when he arrived at the grandmother’s cottage he found it empty.

让大灰狼失望的是，当他来到外婆的小屋时，发现这里是空的。

Grandmother had gone off to market to buy a new broom. She had worn out the old one keeping the cottage clean of forest dirt.

外婆去集市买扫帚了。为了让屋子不被林子里的灰尘弄脏，她已经用坏了一把。

The wolf dressed himself in the grandmother’s nightgown and cap, and got into bed to await Little Red Riding Hood.

大灰狼穿上了外婆的睡衣和睡帽，爬上床，等着小红帽。

Soon Little Red Riding-Hood reached her grandmother’s house, and tapped at the door.

很快小红帽就来到外婆的屋子前，敲了敲门。

“Come in,” said the wolf, in a voice he hoped would sound like the grandmother’s.

“进来，”大灰狼说道，他捏着嗓子，希望自己听起来更像外婆。

Red Riding-Hood thought grandmother must have a cold, she spoke so hoarsely; but she went in at once, and there lay her granny, as she thought, in bed.

小红帽想外婆可能是感冒了，因为她的声音非常嘶哑；小红帽立刻走了进去，正如她所猜想的，外婆正躺在床上。

“If you please, grandmamma, mother sends you some butter and eggs,” she said.

“如果你乐意，外婆，妈妈给你送了一些黄油和鸡蛋，”她说。

“Come here, dear,” said the wicked wolf, “and let me kiss you,” and Red Riding-Hood obeyed.

“快来这里，亲爱的，”大灰狼不怀好意地说道，“让我来亲亲你，”小红帽顺从地走了过去。

But when Red Riding-Hood saw the wolf she felt frightened. The creature was dressed as her grandmother, but did not look quite the same.

但当小红帽看到大灰狼时，她感到害怕。这个家伙打扮成外婆的样子，但看起来还是有些不同。

“Grandmamma,” she said, “what a great nose you have.”

“外婆，”她试探地问道，“你有一个多么大的鼻子啊。”

“All the better to smell you with, my dear,” said the wolf.

“这是为了更好地闻到你的气味，我亲爱的，”大灰狼狡辩道。

“And, grandmamma, what large ears you have.”

“除了这个，外婆，你有一双多么大的耳朵啊。”

“All the better to hear you with, my dear.”

“这是为了更好地听到你的声音，我亲爱的，”大灰狼狡辩道。

“Ah! grandmamma, and what large eyes you have.”

”啊！外婆，你有一双多么大的眼睛啊。“

“All the better to see you with, my dear,” said the wolf, showing his teeth, for he longed to eat the child up.

”这是为了更好地看到你，我亲爱的，“大灰狼继续狡辩，并露出了牙齿，打算把小红帽一口吞下去。

“Oh, grandmamma, and what great teeth you have!” said Red Riding-Hood.

”哦，外婆，你有一排多么锋利的牙齿啊！“小红帽惊讶地说。

“All the better to eat you up with,” growled the wolf, and, jumping out of bed, he rushed at Little Red Riding-Hood .

“这是为了更好地吃掉你，”大灰狼咆哮道，一把跳下床，扑向小红帽。

Just at that moment the door flew open and in rushed Grandmother, having just arrived back from market to find Little Red Riding Hood in dire danger.

就在此时，门被推开，真正的外婆冲了进来。她刚刚从集市回来，发现小红帽处于极端危险中。

She whacked the wolf soundly on the snout with her new broom.

她立即用新买的扫帚把大灰狼揍得鼻青脸肿。

The startled wolf ran about the cottage in panic, being smacked repeatedly by Grandmother’s broom, until by luck he happened upon the door and rushed out.

受惊的大灰狼惊慌失措地在小屋里乱跑，被外婆用扫帚一路暴打，直到他碰巧走运躲到门前，才跑了出去。

The wolf did not stop running until he reached the safety of his own grandmother’s den at the far side of the forest.

大灰狼逃到森林的另一端，到了离外婆的小屋很远的安全地带，才敢停下来。

After a long while, Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother were sure that the wolf was gone for good. Then they enjoyed a nice visit and a meal of eggs and cake.

过了好一会儿，小红帽和她的外婆确定大灰狼已经跑远了，才放松下来，吃起了鸡蛋和蛋糕。

Grandmother walked Little Red Riding Hood home to make sure she arrived safely. Her parents hugged her warmly on her safe return.

外婆把小红帽送回了家，确保她安全到达。因为她安全回来，父母紧紧拥抱了小红帽。

The frightened wolf never bothered them again and they all lived happily ever after.

这只受惊的大灰狼再也没有来打扰，他们从此以后幸福地生活着。
