美国老师 Rebecca 观点｜你可知道“好奇阅读法”？

Reading as a child is an exciting adventure. Children are naturally curious about the world, and as such, they can’t wait to learn and try new things. As a young child, I was no different from other children in this regard. I had a large sense of curiosity about the world and constantly got myself into trouble.

小孩子阅读是一件激动人心的事。小孩对世界天生好奇，所以他们迫不及待要尝试新鲜事物。当我小的时候，在好奇心这一点上跟其他孩子没什么区别。我对世界充满好奇但也常常因此陷入麻烦。

My parents believed in teaching a child from a very young age, and so they read books to me as far back as I can remember. They read to me so often, in fact, that I would memorize all the pages of my favorite books, “This is a puppy! This is a horse!” My parents were thrilled that I enjoyed story time and encouraged me to learn the alphabet,numbers and sight words from a young age.

我的爸妈相信孩子的教育要从小抓起，自打我有记忆开始他们就读书给我听。事实上，我到现在都还记得少年读物的样子。“这是一条小狗！这是一匹马！”我爸妈看着我对读书表现出极大的兴趣很是高兴，从小他们就鼓励我去学习字母表、数字和一些简单的词语。

My older sister was somewhat of a prodigy. She learned how to read entire storybooks by herself from the age of 4, and novels by the age of 5. So, instead of learning to read books myself, I would ask her to read them to me instead.

我的姐姐算个奇才。她从四岁开始就自己读整个整个的故事，从五岁就开始读小说。跟她比起来，我倒更喜欢别人读书给我听。

鼓励帮助我更好地学习

I have a distinct memory of the evening when my father sat me on his lap, pulled out a Bernstein Bears short story that I hadn’t read before and told me that I couldn’t run off and play until I had read it to him. I came up with all sorts of excuses why I didn’t want to read,but my father insisted that I read the book to him. Eventually I realized that he was more stubborn than I was, and I used my knowledge of phonics and sight words to read three quarters of the book with his help. My father proved his point: I was capable of reading, and being lazy was not an excuse. I felt increased confidence andcuriosity after realizing that I was actually able to do something I had told myself I couldn’t do.

我清楚地记得有一个晚上爸爸让我坐在他大腿上，拿出了一本我没有读过的故事书说不读给他听我就不能去玩。我找了很多不读书的理由，但我爸爸都坚持让我读给他听。最终我意识到他心意已决，在他的帮助下我运用我已学的自然拼读法和一些简单的单词读了一大半书。我爸爸证实了他的想法：我有阅读能力而且懒惰不是借口。当我发现自己能做那些我以前觉得自己不行的事情后，我更加自信和好奇啦！

If I have learned anything, it is that oftenthe problem preventing students from excelling isn’t a lack of knowledge; it isthe lack of a willingness to try and make mistakes.

我学到第一件事是：真正阻碍学生卓越的往往不是缺少知识，而是学生缺少尝试和犯错的勇气。

Learning by Trying New Things

通过尝试新鲜事物去学习

However,once a student realizes that they are in fact capable of doing something that they previously thought to be difficult if not impossible, their confidence grows tremendously. This is where one begins to see deeper, lasting learning take place. Parents who push their children outside of their comfort zones and encourage their kids to try something new by learning English are preparing their children for the future in more ways than just one!

一旦学生意识到之前觉得不可能的事自己其实是有能力去做的时候，他的自信心会迅速提升。这样长远而深刻的学习行为就发生了。为了孩子的将来，建议各位粑粑麻麻帮助孩子打破舒适区进而尝试新鲜事物。

Learning by Making Mistakes

通过犯错学习

Generally speaking, little kids aren’t as afraid as adults of making mistakes and losing face, and research has also shown us that children are generally much faster at learning languages than adults are. The more willing we are to try something and possibly fail at it, the faster we will grow.

总体说来，大人往往比小孩更加害怕犯错和丢脸，小孩在语言学习方面往往比大人更有优势。事实往往是，我们越是愿意尝试一些新鲜事物并不怕失败，我们成长得就越快～

LearningThrough Having Fun!

通过快乐游戏学习

When I taught elementary English in a small village in rural Shuangjiang (双江), Yunnan, I used a variety of games toencourage my students to learn to read English. I had them design their own colorful vocabulary flashcards and study in groups with their friends to earn points in the team vs. team or class vs. class competitions. The team or the class with the highest points at the end of every two weeks would receive a prize.

在云南一个叫双江的小镇教英语时，我用了很多游戏调动孩子们读英语的积极性。我让他们自己制作单词卡，通过小组学习等环节更好地学习语言。得分高的组最终会获得小礼品哦～

Reading as a child can also be spectacularly fun.
