It was a perfect summer evening. The moon was high in the sky, and the stars twinkled over the forest. 

这是一个完美的夏夜。月亮高高地挂在天空，星星在森林上空闪烁。

All of the bunnies had gone to sleep. All of the bunnies except for Thumper! Thumper wasn't tired at all. He jumped along looking for a friend to play with him.

所有的兔子都入睡了，除了桑普！桑普一点儿也不累，他一路跳跃着向前走去，去寻找一个朋友和他一起玩。

In the meadow, Thumper saw one of his mouse friends.

在草地上，桑普发现了他的一个老鼠朋友。

"Do you want to play hide-and-go-seek?" he said.

他说：“你想玩捉迷藏吗？”

"Oh. Maybe tomorrow," but little mouse said. "I'm tired. It's too late to play. I have to get ready to go to bed." 

但是小老鼠说：“噢，或许明天吧，我累了，现在去玩太晚了。我得准备上床睡觉啦。”

The mouse reached toward the drop of water. He saw a mushroom. He used the water to wash his tiny face. Then the mouse curled up beneath the mushroom. He went to sleep.

老鼠走向水旁。他看见了一个蘑菇，然后用水洗了洗他的小脸。然后老鼠蜷缩在蘑菇下面。他睡着了。

Thumper said, "Good night, friend." and bounced away.

桑普说：“晚安，我的朋友。”然后就跳开了。

Next Thumper came to a pond. A mother duck was tucking her three baby ducklings into bed.

接下来桑普来到一个池塘边。鸭妈妈正在哄她的三个鸭宝宝上床睡觉。

"Can the three ducklings come out to play?" Thumper asked.

桑普问：“三只小鸭可以出来玩吗？”

"Oh. Not tonight, Thumper," the mother duck said. "It's past their bedtime. You can play in the morning."

鸭妈妈说，“噢。今晚不行，桑普。已经过了他们的睡觉时间。你们可以在早上玩。”

The three ducklings snuggled close to their mother in the soft grass, they closed their eyes in drifted off to sleep.

三只小鸭在柔软的草地上紧紧地依偎着他们的妈妈，然后闭上眼睛睡着了。

Thumper kept looking for friend through the forest. He saw the chipmunk and squirrel. He stopped beneath the tree house and yelled, "do you want to come and play?" But they were already fast asleep.

桑普穿过森林一直在寻找朋友。他看到了花栗鼠和松鼠。他在树屋下停了下来,大声叫道：“你们想去玩吗？”但他们都已经睡熟了。

Suddenly, Thumper heard a voice. He perked up his long ear and listened closely. It was his mother calling his name.

突然，桑普听到了一个声音。他竖起他的长耳朵，仔细听了听。原来是他的妈妈在叫他的名字。

Thumper still wanted to play, but he knew he had listened to his mother and went home. He ran through the forest toward the sound of his mother's voice.

桑普还想玩，但他知道他听妈妈的话，必须回家。他寻着妈妈的声音跑着穿过了森林。

When he got there, his sisters were waiting. They hugged him tight. And said "Oh,Thumper, when we woke up, you were gone! We couldn't go back to sleep without you."

当他到家时，他的姐妹们在等着他。她们紧紧地拥抱着他。然后说：“噢，桑普，当我们醒来的时候，你走了！没有你我们睡不着。”

Thumper smiled. He had missed his sisters, too. His sisters are his best friends!

桑普笑了。他也十分想念他的姐妹们。他的姐妹们是他最好的朋友！

"It's time to get ready for bed, everybody." said Thumper's mother.

桑普的妈妈说：“宝贝们，要准备去睡觉啦。”

Thumper went outside to wash his paws, ears, and feet, and his sisters followed. 

桑普出去洗了洗他的爪子，耳朵，脚，他的姐妹们紧随其后。

He splashed one of them with the water. She looked at him and laughed and then began to splash him back. Soon they were laughing and playing, and having fun.

他用水泼其中一个姐妹。她看着桑普笑了起来，然后开始泼回去。很快他们就边笑边玩，玩得很开心。

Before long and Papa came outside to get the bunnies. They kissed each one good night and tucked them all into their beds.

不久，爸爸来到外面，去找他的小兔子们。他们互相亲吻，道晚安。然后爸爸把他们都塞到了床上。

"We love you very much," Mama and papa said together. "But it's time to go to sleep."

妈妈爸爸一起说：“我们非常爱你们，但是现在该去睡觉啦。”

But Thumper still wasn't tired. "Papa, will you tell us a story?" asked Thumper.

但是桑普仍然不累。桑普问：“爸爸，你可以给我们讲个故事吗”

"All right, Thumper, but only one story," said Papa.

爸爸说：“好的，桑普。但是只讲一个故事哦。”

Papa began to tell a story. All the animals were so excited hear about the forest and all of their friends who lived there.

爸爸开始讲故事，所有的动物们听到关于森林和森林里朋友们的故事都感到很兴奋。

One by one, they slowly drifted off to sleep.

慢慢地，他们一个接一个地睡着了。

Papa finished his stories and smiled, looking down at his five little bunnies. Thumper was curled up with his sisters, fast asleep. Mama and Papa gave each of them another kiss.

爸爸讲完了故事，笑了笑，看着他的五个小兔子们。桑普蜷缩在他的姐妹之间，很快睡着了。妈妈和爸爸给了他们每人一个吻。

"Goodnight, Thumper," they whispered. "Sweet dreams!"

他们低声说：“晚安，桑普。做个好梦！”
