英语小短文分享

People often say that a dog is man's best friend（人们总说狗狗是人类最好的朋友），Over thousands of years（几千年来），man has taught his dogs to do many kinds of work besides guarding the home（除了看家之外还可以做很多其他的事情），For example sheepdogs are famous for their ability to control a flock of hundreds of sheep（比如牧羊犬就是因为可以控制数百只羊的羊群而出名）、Dogs have been used to aid disabled people for centuries（可以说狗狗可以帮助残疾人士已经有好几个世纪了），A guide dog can lead its blind owner（导盲犬可以为盲主人引路）。Nowadays dogs can be taught to turn on light switches、open refrigerator doors and dial the telephone for their disabled owners（现在人们还可以教狗狗为残疾人士打开电灯、开冰箱甚至是拨电话）。For the majority of people、however dogs are simply pets and friends for both young and old members of the family（然而对于很多人来说狗狗也是家里老人和孩子的宠物和朋友）。

A bank robber stole a lot of money（一个盗贼从银行里面偷了很多钱），He was caught and sent to prison（他被住抓到了送到监狱去），but the money was never found（但是钱却没有找到。When he came out of prison（当他从监狱出来之后）, they watched him to see what he would do（他们监视他看他会做什么）。Here is the detective、reporting to the inspector（这里一个侦探正在汇报情况），" I found Johnny . I followed him all around the town, but frankly I couldn't make anything out of what he bought. Here's the list."（我找到了Johnny我跟着他找遍了全城、但是坦白说我不能从它买的东西中推断出什么来），shirt、heavy crowbar、box of chocolates、shovel、heavy hammer、bunch of flowers（有衬衫、大铁锹、一盒巧克力、铁铲、大铁锤以及一束花）。The inspector said（检察官说）, "Good. That helps me a lot.”（很好、这对我们很有帮助）。
